As a Santa Barbara photographer working in Southern California, I get the wonderful opportunity to photograph many environmental portraits and photography sessions due to our mild weather.
Being in love with fashion and being a Santa Barbara photographer who loves working with local families and businesses gives me the unique opportunity to work with High School seniors as well as local businesses and designers.
Keeping up with trends in the fashion world, creating my own trends, living my own unique fashion forward style, photographing people who have hott style and are fashion forward is one of my most favorite things.
I have not really gotten on the Pinterest bandwagon but I wanted to post a little fashion and fun inspirational post from your Santa Barbara photographer who not only loves to capture your style but loves to create her own style.
As a Santa Barbara Photographer, a lover of all things youthful and a girl constantly getting lost in the beauty of the light, I am excited to present Katee Grace Photography showcasing a new line of High School Senior pics for Santa Barbara area High Schools.
I remember all too well being in high school and getting my senior pics by the school’s chosen photographer (talk about awkward and embarrassing!), and then getting the photographs that I actually wanted to hand out to my friends and family from another photographer of my choosing, who made me look GOOD, fun, beautiful, natural, trendy… how I really felt I looked then. My mom still has these senior pics up in her home and I’m totally not embarrassed about them, while the yearbook picture, I’d rather forget!
Getting senior pics done should be casual yet intentional, comfortable yet stylized. Being on both sides of the camera and thinking back to my senior pics, I strive to create an experience for each of my high schoolers for their senior pics that is comfortable, fun, and produces both the traditional and classic photographs that mom wants as well as the trendy, fashion/editorial style photographs that the senior wants.
Click HERE to view Katee Grace Seniors New Website and email email@example.com to get your senior pics. (iPad and iPhone versions of the website are on their way!!!)
Katee Grace Photography is currently booking for your custom senior photography session. Get the Senior Pics you want, the ones that you will have fun getting ready for, enjoy workin’ the camera for and looking at afterwards.
Taurian smiles as she recalls her first memories of her father– his arms wide open asking her to come to him. Sadly, however, those same hands did not tuck her in each night, nor did they hold her hand as she walked home from school. Her parents were unable to care for her because they were teens themselves, so she was raised by her grandparents in South Central Los Angeles. When Taurian talks about her life she repeatedly and enthusiastically states: “I’m so blessed.”
Graduating from NYU with a bachelor’s degree, she knew that she wanted to spend her life helping people. Her dedication to serving and fighting for refugees took her to Ghana, Africa. Unfortunately, while she was there, she found herself in desperate need of help. She was 23 years old, pregnant and the baby’s dad was nowhere to be found. She eventually was able to return to the States just in time to give birth to her beautiful daughter, Meridian. Taurian gave birth at home, completely unassisted, and absolutely convinced that the Lord saw her through.
Just two weeks after Meridian was born, Taurian began to search for help within her community. That search led her to WPC, where she not only received the parenting tools and support that she had been desperate for, but also incredible relationships that would see her through this new experience. Her WPC counselor began mentoring her through “mommy-hood”, something she had never truly been on the receiving end of. Her counselor continually expressed a sincere love and care for Taurian and her family and shared her own personal experience, which not only created a space of trust in the relationship but challenged Taurian’s will and ability.
As she continues in the Westside Pregnancy Clinic’s Parenting Support Program, Taurian is learning skills specific to her life and the needs of her baby. In her own words, “My deepest desire is to change the tide of absent parents in the lives of their children. With the help of WPC I have a shoulder to lean on, and believe I can overcome my past circumstances and truly make a difference.”With this new found hope, Taurian is ready for a fresh start and she and her baby girl moved to Paris, France this past fall to start her singing career.
It is truly an honor to have spent a day with Taurian and her precious buddle of joy Meridian and gotten to write this short story. Not only did she warmly invite me into her life, her day, her world, but her heart shone through so beautifully as she so naturally invited me in. As I walked in the door of her home I immediately felt at home, relaxed and welcome. The day we spent together was lovely and memorable as I recall being introduced around town as her friend. Not only did she cook a delish curry dinner for me before I hit the road, but she packed snacks for both of us. Her actions of inviting me in through food and kind introductions were truly just the outward display of her genuine and honest desire to truly connect. As I read writings she had written over the years I wished my time with her was going to be longer than one day. It is one thing to have a great display of hospitality but to genuinely open open to each other is so how we were created and so the desire of God, and this genuine and true type of relating with people is what I experienced during my time with Taurian.
Writing this short story you see just a glimpse into the remarkable woman that Taurian is and the challenges that she has overcome. I almost feel this cannot be called a short story because to me a short story implies many more words, but for the purposes and needs of the Westside Pregnancy Clinic in LA I was privileged to write this short story as part of a series I did for them for their annual gala.

I was honored to be part of Michelle and Dave’s wedding day at the Bacara Resort here in Santa Barbara this past summer. Being a Santa Barbara Photographer, I am continually inspired by the natural beauty of Santa Barbara and the couple’s and families that are drawn to enjoy various seasons of their lives along the coast of California in Santa Barbara. Meeting Michelle and Dave last Spring at the studio who orchestrated this relationship, the studio of Fotoceilo in downtown Santa Barbara, I almost couldn’t contain my excitement as they shared their special and unique love story and their loves and enjoyments as a couple and then their plans for their Santa Barbara wedding at the Bacara Resort. Meeting for their engagement session at one of my favorite Santa Barbara beaches, I got to know this sweet couple even more and my excitement just grew and grew for their coming wedding day. The wedding day was flawless and absolutely gorgeous. Starting with the details of Michelle’s exquisite Monique Lhuillier dress to the beautiful flowers designed by Juniper Presence, the depth of love from both Dave and Michelle’s closest friends and family was felt and expressed in every way imaginable. Watching this interaction of this couple my heart melted, Dave’s tenderness and attentiveness to his wife in the midst of the excitement and business of the wedding is one of the defining memories I have of this couple, as well as Michelle’s trust and love for her husband seen so clearly in her eyes and through her tears as she watched the mother and groom dance.
I’m continually blown away at the amazing couples and families I get to photograph and work with. Being a Santa Barbara photographer in a community that facilitates beautiful celebrations of love and life, I am thankful for the personal relationships I get to develop with my amazing clients, whether it’s Wedding Photography or Family Photography, life is a journey and these seasons should be remembered and cherished.

When paths cross in multiple avenues it makes being part of people’s lives even more special. I have known this special couple through various events over the last couple years and am honored and excited to be their wedding photographer today on this very special and beautiful day of their lives. Heading over to Santa Barbara’s La Cumbre Country Club this afternoon for the celebration of two lives becoming one. Happy Wedding Day John + Kasey.
Often when we look at our lives, our experiences, our choices, our past and our futures we fail to realize that those same opportunities, both good and bad, are not as easily afforded to everyone. As I look back at my own life, I’ve done things that I never dreamed as a young girl I would ever do, but coming out on the other side, I’ve learned that given the right circumstances we are all capable of absolutely anything. It’s a tough pill to swallow but the truth is, the ground is level at the cross. We have all been enemies of Christ but He still has never quit loving each of us, knowing exactly the choices we would make and He already was preparing our steps and our hearts for a road of beautiful redemption.
There’s a compelling quote by Ian Percy, “We judge others by their behavior. We judge ourselves by our intentions.” I remember growing up there was a plaque in the bathroom that read something about not knowing what another’s person’s life is like until you have to walk a mile in their moccasins. This tendency to look at someone’s life and see the mess that they are in and assume that well “you made your bed now lie in it,” not only lacks the compassion of Jesus and a true revelation of the depravity that we’ve all been saved from but also fails to see the big picture. When we look back at our own failures and unimaginable journeys, do we see that our poor choices probably had more to due with a false belief and lack of experience with the love of God? Everyone has a story, and the decisions that we make today are most often a result of what we experienced yesterday. If we’re willing, I believe we can identify with absolutely anyone in their struggle. We are all in this journey of life together and we can either allow our hearts to be full of love and healing for those around us or we can miss the beautiful work of God in order to avoid the mess. Not everything that happens in our lives was part of God’s plan, I don’t believe that it is His heart to allow children to be abused, physically, sexually, verbally, or otherwise, I don’t believe it’s His dream that a child is neglected but I know He will work absolutely everything for our good if we allow Him. Sometimes the deepest wells of pain in our lives can become the deepest wells of joy and love.
After working alongside some of the amazing people who pour out their lives for the families and women coming through this phenomenal crisis pregnancy clinic as well as the women and families who’ve experienced the love of Christ through their service, I would love to share with you not only this organization but an opportunity to save the world, one life at a time. This fall, the Westside Pregnancy Clinic will be hosting their annual Fundraising Gala at the Fairmont Miramar Hotel & Bungalows in Santa Monica. Don’t miss your opportunity to experience beauty from ashes at their “SAVE A LIFE | SAVE THE WORLD | fundraising gala | 10/22/2011”
